Drug Prevention Education Presentation
Our goal is to assist schools in the Philadelphia area in developing an ongoing, sustainable drug education awareness program for its teachers and parents, to minimize the use of illegal drugs being used in school and at home. This effort will aim to reduce the adverse health, social and economic consequences because of the use of illegal drugs. By minimizing or limiting the harms and hazards of drug use for both the community and the student. It is recognized that teachers are best suited to provide young people with the skills and knowledge to make sound choices and decision, thus teachers must be adequately trained. The organization will also provide free in home drug testing kits.
What our audience will walk away with:
A better sense of awareness
Being able to identify different substances
The different types of drug paraphernalia
Code words used to identify drugs and paraphernalia
Hiding places where they could be stashed
Currently there are few to no programs to help parents or teachers recognize potential drug sources or their hiding places. This approach replaces punitive measures with more of a restorative proactive measure allowing for a better knowledge and understanding of how drugs are used and how they are concealed.
